N York Moors & Goyt Valley

2020 heralded the world pandemic of Coronavirus so named COVID19.

Travel has been severely curtailed and since 22 March we had only left Leicestershire once to cycle the Cloud Trail.

Arrangements were made to meet Dave and Dawn in a temporary holiday site for the Caravan and Camping Club in West Witten in the North Yorkshire Moors.

A temporary holiday site (THS) in Wensleydale was our beautiful campsite for the weekend giving us access to great walking.

Redmire Force (upstream from Aysgarth Falls of Robin Hood fame).

A walk up Pen Hill with great views from the top.

A walk through the adjoining farmland

Despite the presence of a great pub called The Wensleydale Heifer, this is strange times and none of us wanted to dine out. Camper van grub it was then. Dave and Dawn were hosts one night and we did the next. Great weather allowed us to dine al fresco.

On Sunday we said our goodbyes and Dave and Dawn headed off to Northumberland and we headed south to the Goyt Valley in Derbyshire, but with a detour to Micklethwaite to join Debs and Robin for Sunday lunch.

We ended up staying an extra night and left  on Tuesday morning to find our our possible Park4Night. It was a great spot with open views and access to the valley and its reservoirs - Errwood and Fernilee.

We explored the remains of Errwood Hall.
We walked around both reservoirs.
We walked along the riverside.

Beautiful weather, beautiful valley.
