Lincolnshire
Our plan to head back to Derbyshire was diverted to Lincolnshire in the hope of finding better weather.
We arranged to meet Dave and Dawn in Chapel St Leonard's. "Sounded quaint" said Dawn as the reality of the enormous caravan parks presented a town rather than a village feel.
It was very windy as we set off for an evening walk along the coast.
No al fresco dining tonight so we set to pre dinner drinks in one van and dining in the other. Very civilised and very sheltered from the buffeting wind and the marauding locals. It seems that our neighbouring holiday park has had the odd fight and stabbing of a weekend.
Saturday we took on a bit more of the coastal path and through the local villages but had to curtail our walk because Mark got sand in his boot and worked himself up a nice little blister.
The P4Night was fantastic. Located at Red Hill Nature Reserve near Louth with far reaching views and the perfect space for our two vans.
Our walk took us around the local villages and included an untimely downpour about half an hour before the end. Sheltering under the trees helped but it was good to get back and dry off before combining supplies for our evening meal.
The next morning the sun was shining and gave us the chance to explore the Nature Reserve, meet the local celebrity, have lunch in the sunshine before heading home.
Our local celebrity was Harry Turner, an 87 year old gentleman who has made it his mission to plant the wild flower meadow with hundreds of cowslips. He had been featured on Gardeners World the weekend we were away and here he was having a chat to us in a live interview just for us. Mind you, he was as deaf as a post so some of our questions didn't get answered.
